International Cities Virtual Student Exchange
NTU Global's 2021 European and International Cities Virtual Student Exchange was a success. We're now offering you the opportunity to take part in a virtual exchange with:
- NTU students, and
- students from some of our international partner universities.
This free and cross-cultural experience will involve students from international partner universities in:
- the USA
- New Zealand
This is an opportunity to connect with students from our international partner universities. In groups of four or five, you'll form friendships and work on a project together. The exchange will run from 4 January to 31 March 2022.
Why I should apply
During this cross-cultural interaction, you'll have the opportunity to find out more about:
- your partners' cultures, lifestyles, interests, and aspirations
- the community they live in.
You'll work on a project together. On successfully completing the exchange, you'll get a certificate to record your participation.
By participating in this exchange, you have the opportunity to:
- improve your global competence and cross-cultural communication skills and awareness
- learn about intercultural use of virtual platforms
- get a glimpse into global learning and networking
- explore your partners' cultures while sharing your own
- get an intimate peek into everyday life in your partners' countries
- learn more about your partners' hobbies and interests
- discover what life is like at your partners’ universities
- discover the teaching and learning practices in their countries
- improve your language skills
- improve your collaborative skills by working on a short project together.
The exchange takes place from Monday 3 January to Thursday 31 March 2022. You and your partners will together decide the times and dates of your meetings. This makes the exchange very flexible. Your name, university and email address will be shared with your partners.
Requirements of the exchange
NTU Global will match you to your partner group. We'll base this as closely as we can on the information in your application.
As the hosts of this exchange, you'll have to take the lead. This means contacting your group, introducing yourself, and arranging your first meeting.
You must ensure all members of the group are able to attend each meeting. Due to different time zones, this can mean some early mornings or late nights.
You should prepare for your meetings in advance. You might need to have photos, videos, presentations or web links ready ahead of time.
All participants must complete a feedback template. This includes:
- a short pre-exchange report
- reflections after each meeting
- a short post-exchange reflective report.
We'll also invite participants to attend a virtual cultural diversity workshop. NTU Global run this in early January.
Who can apply
This virtual exchange is open to any NTU or Confetti higher education student. You must be committed to seeing it through and taking the lead within your group.
How to apply
Apply using our International Cities Virtual Student Exchange 2022 form.
The deadline for applications is 1 December 2021. Email Faye Martin if you'd like more information about the exchange.
