Stay safe online with our cyber security workshop and online learning
Published: 18/01/2023
It can be difficult juggling all the responsibilities of being at university. There’s always so much going on, whether it’s deadlines, events or exams. Unfortunately, there will always be those who are looking to take advantage of your distraction. Could you be susceptible to online scams?
We have the advice and guidance to help keep you safe and secure.
Cyber security awareness online learning
It is essential for all students to understand how to stay safe online and protect their data.
To help you do this, we are introducing the Digital Skills unit in NOW. Our first online learning programme of the unit is Cyber Security Awareness and completing this will ensure you are:
- aware of security threats and know what to do if you think your data has been compromised
- able to identify the warning signs and how to avoid being a victim of phishing emails, social media fakes and suspicious websites
- developing good security practices when using Outlook and Teams
- confident reporting a data breach.
Cyber security awareness workshop
Find out from a Graduate Information Security Analyst working at the University how you can stay safe online during your time at NTU and beyond. We’ll clearly explain what social engineering is and how phishing works. Also, how you can recognise a scam message and protect yourself from harmful content on social media.
All this and more will be covered in an online event hosted via Microsoft Teams.
Wednesday 25 January 2023, 12 pm – 1 pm
