NTU cements Ukraine university collaboration with signing during Global Week

NTU has formally recognised its collaboration with Lviv Polytechnic University (LPNU) in Ukraine during a visit from the university’s representatives to mark NTU’s Global Week.

Colleagues from Lviv Polytechnic University and NTU with the signed memorandum of understanding

Colleagues from both institutions signed a memorandum of understanding to mark the twinning agreement that was set up in May 2022, soon after the conflict began.

While LPNU has remained largely unscathed during this time, students are studying online and teaching has been extended to non-LPNU students who have been displaced from their homes and universities. LPNU has also had to re-prioritise research projects to address new needs that have arisen because of the conflict.

During this time, NTU has supported LPNU with several initiatives, including English language training opportunities for LPNU colleagues and students through a virtual language café. The partnership has also led to the development of a dual online MSc Degree in Trauma and Psychological Wellbeing in an area of significance to Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction, as well as collaboration on research projects.

It is an honour to welcome our colleagues from Lviv Polytechnic University as part of our Global Week, where we celebrate our multicultural community.

Our partnership to date has enabled a deeper understanding of each other’s communities and provided us with several opportunities to explore common interests, from research to sustainability. We are making great strides in our collaboration and continue to stand with our partners in the Ukraine, supporting them wherever possible.
