*Updated* City Campus building closures, Sunday 1 September

*Update: The planned electrical works were completed successfully and power has been restored to the affected buildings below. If you come across any issues in your residential hall, please contact your accommodation provider.*

On Sunday 1 September, from approximately 7.30 am–4 pm, there will be an electrical shutdown on City Campus while essential maintenance works are carried out. This means you won’t be able to access a number of our buildings for that period.

The table below lists which buildings will be affected by the works and which ones you will still be able to use:

50 Shakespeare Street, Arkwright, Bonington, Byron Residence, Chaucer, Design and Digital Arts building (DADA), Dryden Centre, Dryden Enterprise Centre, Gill Street South, Gill Street North, Gill Street car park, Hampden, Hampden car park, Health Centre, Larkdale, Maudslay, Newton, Sandby, NTSU, including City Sports Centre, Terrace Royal, University Hall, Waverley.

Partially affected – Power but with likely disruptions to power supply that dayBarnes Wallis, Boots Library*.
Not affected – Full power23 Goldsmith Street, Belgrave and Postgraduate Centre, City Gate East, Djanogly, Goldsmith Teaching and Learning Centre, Hillcrest and Stores, Hollymount House, Occupational Health and Wellbeing, Security Office, Taylor, Trent House, Confetti and non NG1 sites.

If you’re currently staying in one of the impacted residential halls, your accommodation provider should have contacted you about the power outage.

You will still be able to access Boots Library and the unaffected buildings with your NTU student ID card. Our on-site security will be open and operating as normal should you need to contact them.

*Boots Library  – please note that power disruptions are expected between 4 pm on Saturday 31 August and 8.30 am on Monday 2 September. During this time, access at Boots Library will be to Level 0 only. Staff will be running a fetch-and-carry service for any book stock in the closed areas. There will temporarily be no PC provision on Saturday 31 August, 4 pm – 7 pm. There will some power disruptions on Sunday 1 September. Staff will give notice before disruptions occur, but work should be saved at regular intervals.

We expect that all buildings and power supplies will be back up and running as usual on Monday 2 September. Please check back in the Student Newsroom on Monday 2 September, or speak to your accommodation provider, for an update.
