Published: 06/05/2025
Every year, students, colleagues and alumni are given the opportunity to have their creative work published and win prizes as part of the NTU Arts Creative Competition and the winners for 2025 are in!

The theme of this year’s competition was home, hope and modern Britain inspired by featured writer Aniefiok Ekpoudom and we received some fantastic entries addressing family, social issues and beyond. Each of them was reviewed by a panel of judges including representatives from Nottingham Poetry Festival, Bonington Gallery and the Staff Writing Guild, and we are pleased to announce the winners below.
Winners
- Student Creative Writing and overall winner - Lahraeb Munir, inside & out.
- Student Visual Arts - Lala Imberh, Home is Where the Hearth Is: my parent's kitchen.
- Student Music - Nevaeha Yearwood, Lucky Me.
- Staff Creative Writing - Dr Leigh Fung, Wonton More.
- Staff Visual Arts - Dr Christian Thode, Roots & Wings.
- Alumni Creative Writing - Zach Omitowoju, When the Beat Drops, So Does Our Heritage.
The winners will be performing their work at the NTU Arts Showcase at Metronome on Wednesday 21 May. We’ll also be launching our brand-new anthology which brings together writing, illustrations and music from NTU’s creative community, and cover artwork commissioned by one of our Graphic Design students.
Can’t make it to Metronome? The showcase will also be livestreamed on YouTube. If you decide to join us in person, tickets are free for NTU students, and colleagues and members of the public can decide what they pay. Find out more and book your place.
A huge thank you to everyone who entered and congratulations to all of our winners. We hope to see you at the showcase!
