Make packing easier by donating your unwanted items to charity.

Between May and September, British Heart Foundation (BHF) boxes for homewares and crates for sealed non-perishable food and toiletries will be back in UPP hall receptions. This year, you’ll also find donation points for food and toiletries in the Libraries and Global Lounges across City, Clifton and Brackenhurst campuses.
Where to donate

Don’t live on Campus?
There will be a donation day on the City Campus for those living in local private student accommodation. Find the Sustainability and Community Liaison teams on Friday 27 June outside Union Square, where you can come along and bring any unwanted homewares and sealed non-perishable food and toiletries.
Outdoor BHF donation points for homewares are also available year-round on campuses and across the Arboretum area and Lenton in Nottingham.
What happens to my donations?
Any donation is gratefully appreciated. Homewares including household items and electrical goods will be sold in BHF shops to raise money for vital medical research. Food will also be given to those in need in the local community through charities such as Himmah and Emmanuel House.
Last year, the scheme saw over 1500kg of food (30 large crates worth) donated to local foodbanks Himmah (City) and NG11 (Clifton) and over 900 bags of homewares donated to the British Heart Foundation. Find out more about the Big Clear Out.
Let’s go even bigger in 2025 — don’t dump it, donate it!
