Introduction to harassment and sexual misconduct: signposting and support
Find out more about this essential harassment and sexual misconduct training.
What is the module?
Introduction to Sexual Misconduct and Harassment is a short online training module that all NTU students are required to complete during their first term. It takes approximately 15 minutes to finish and is designed to help you understand what respectful behaviour looks like, what constitutes harassment and sexual misconduct, and how to access support.
Why we are delivering this module?
We want all NTU students to live and study in an environment that is safe, respectful, and enjoyable. As you will all be in a new environment and interacting with new people, this training will give everyone a shared understanding of respect and boundaries to help everyone thrive.
In 2025, the Office for Students released a new condition of registration for higher education institutions, titled Condition E6: Harassment and sexual misconduct. The regulation requires that all students are equipped with knowledge around understanding harassment and sexual misconduct, as well as understanding support available.
Nottingham Trent University has had an existing comprehensive prevention and response mechanism to sexual misconduct and harassment, including mandatory consent workshops, report + support online platform, and required training for staff. What to expect from the module?
The module provides a shared foundation for how we treat one another at University. It covers key topics such as consent, boundaries, and unacceptable behaviours, and explains NTU’s expectations for student conduct relating to sexual misconduct, harassment, and right to lawful freedom of speech. You’ll also learn where to go for help if you experience or witness something concerning.
It includes sensitive content and it has been developed with care to be clear, concise, and accessible. We encourage you to take care of yourself as you progress through the module. If you have any questions about the training, you can contact the team at E6training@ntu.ac.uk.
