Moving out of your accommodation

You will move out of your term-time accommodation at least once during your time at university. See our top tips on preparing to move out.

Waste disposal

Make sure your bin is out in time for the last collection, and put it away before you leave. Recycle what you can to minimise overflowing general waste bins.

For help knowing when your bin collections are and the locations of household recycling centres, you can visit the Nottingham City Council website for more information.

Recycle and donate

Clothing, books and homeware

Help the environment and your community by donating unwanted clothing, books and homeware to the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Pack for Good campaign, supported by NTU.

All money raised will support the lifesaving research and work of the BHF.

The collection bins are located near our City Campus on the following streets:

  • Burns Street
  • St Anns Street
  • Maid Marion Way
  • Curzon Street
  • Raleigh Street

Alternatively, you can take your stuff to any of the Nottingham BHF stores, just mention the Pack for Good campaign when giving it in. BHF won’t accept coat hangers, pillows, duvet covers or any damaged and dirty goods – but your local council tip will.

Unwanted food items

You can donate unopened and non-perishable foods to local food banks.

Security measures

Be sure that all windows and doors are locked, all non-essential electrical items unplugged, and all valuables are out of sight.
