Published: 22/06/2021

The winners of this year’s Nottingham Young Creative Awards (YCA) have just been announced and NTU and Confetti students have secured wins across multiple categories. Furthermore, an impressive 14 students made it onto the shortlist in categories including Creative Writing, Photography and Film.

Over 600 entries were received for this year’s competition, which is now in its twelfth year. Entrants used their work to tackle issues such as racism, gender stereotypes, mental health and the ongoing impacts of COVID-19.

Open to 11 – 24 year olds who live, work or study in Nottingham, the competition aims to recognise and celebrate creative talent in the city. Each category is split into three age groups, 11 – 15, 16 – 18 and 19 – 24.  Previous winners have included singer-songwriter Rob Green, poet and performer Bridie Squires, dancer Jamal Sterrett Phoenix and make-up artist and Instagram sensation Romanie-Jade Tulloch. Now, many NTU students will also be joining this list of names.
