Encouraging a safe and respectful environment

This year NTU, at the request of our students, has introduced workshops around consent. These workshops, called Consent is Everything, have been included in all first-year undergraduates’ timetables.

Talking about consent is one part of NTU’s commitment to preventing, responding to and offering support for all incidents of sexual violence that impact our students.

We also have biennial campus climate surveys; we are delivering disclosure training and consent and bystander workshops; and funded dedicated support staff to respond to incidents.

We are committed to responding to what students tell us they need and to ensure NTU is a safe and enjoyable place to live, learn, and study. We are so grateful to our 71 colleague and student volunteers who have undergone training to facilitate these workshops.

Responding to Student Disclosures of Sexual Violence

We have also re-designed our colleague training for when a student discloses an incident of sexual violence. Our training will focus on the impact on students and how to support anyone who discloses this type of incident.

All colleagues are encouraged to undertake this 20-minute online training found on the Essential Learning in NOW.

If you have a question or comment about anything outlined here, please get in touch with our consent workshop leadership team.
