#EmbraceEquity this March for International Women’s Day 2023

International Women’s Day (IWD) is coming up on Wednesday 8 March and NTU is proud to be hosting a range of events throughout the month to celebrate the occasion.

This year, the theme is Embrace Equity. It asks us to work together to raise awareness about discrimination and take action to drive gender equality.

From insightful exhibitions, live music, and networking events to a movie night with free snacks and refreshments, find out what you can get involved in.

On the eve of International Women's Day, you’re invited to explore Nottingham Contemporary after hours.

Join us to celebrate brand-new exhibitions, experience lightning talks from some of NTU’s finest academics and see BBC introducing's ‘Girlband’ play a set!

Looking to get active?

Download our free NTU Moves app to take part in a special International Women's Day challenge and get rewarded for your physical activity.

This challenge is to walk 5,000 steps on Wednesday 8 March, to earn 30 points for your NTU Moves account. In addition, one lucky person who completes this challenge will win an afternoon tea for two at the Pudding Pantry!

Network with females working in a range of industries

Wednesday 8 March, 4.30 pm-6.30 pm - Newton building, City Campus

Open to all female, female identifying and non-binary students, this celebration event gives you the opportunity to hear from females working in a range of industries, share experiences and network.

If you’ve taken part in the Women's Development Programme, this is a great opportunity to reflect and celebrate what you’ve achieved.

Flash mob alert!

Wednesday 8 March, 1.45 pm - Central Court, Newton building, City Campus

As a gesture of solidarity, NTU is inviting our whole community to take part in a flash mob event on Wednesday 8 March. We’re asking students, staff and allies to join in with striking the #EmbraceEquity pose to mark this year’s theme.

Embracing gender equity is something we can all be part of, so let’s give it a huge hug from NTU!

A conversation with NTU alumna, Nicole Crentsil

Wednesday 22 March, 12 pm, Teams

Join Nicole Crentsil for an enlightening discussion on equity in the creative arts and the power of diversity.

Nicole graduated from NTU in 2014 with a degree in product design and is the founder and CEO of Black Girl Fest, a festival and platform for Black females and non-binary people. In 2021 Nicole was awarded Forbes 30 under 30 for her contribution to arts and culture.
