Celebrate Refugee Week 2023 with NTU Moves!

Published: 05/06/2023

Join us in celebrating NTU’s achievement of University of Sanctuary status during Nottingham Refugee Week from Saturday 17 – Sunday 25 June.

Nottingham Refugee Week is an annual cultural festival that welcomes those who have sought refuge in Nottingham and celebrates the culture of sanctuary we’ve built here.

This year, the festivities will begin with a launch at Sneinton Market on Saturday 17 June, 11 am-3 pm, followed by a series of events across the city, with some on NTU’s City Campus. All students and colleagues are welcome!

NTU Moves challenge

If you're a NTU Moves user, you can also support Nottingham Refugee Week with every walk, run, swim or cycling activity you complete in June through cashing your ‘rewards’ as a donation to our charity of the month, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum (NNRF). NNRF is a local, independent charity that offers advice and support, community space, food and educational activities to refugees and asylum seekers living across the local area.

Look out for the special Refugee Week Challenge on NTU Moves from Monday 19 June, and you can redeem 3000 ‘moves’ points for a £3 donation to NNRF from now up until the end of June.

If you have any questions about Nottingham Refugee Week or NTU’s University of Sanctuary status, please contact James Rowland, Transition Coordinator in our Centre for Student and Community Engagement.
