The most important thing is making sure you are taking care of yourself. It is essential for you to prioritise both your physical and mental well-being during these demanding periods to help you perform at your best.

Take breaks

Breaks are essential to maintain your mental health and avoid feelings of burnout. Aim to take regular short breaks whilst studying and use this time to rejuvenate your mind and do things to help you relax i.e. reading, taking a walk, playing sports or socialising with friends.

Reduced screen time

Reducing your screen time during study breaks can help alleviate stress levels, allowing your mind to unwind and recharge more effectively whilst increasing your ability to focus and concentrate during study sessions.

Eat a balanced diet

Keeping your energy levels up requires a balanced diet filled with plenty of fruits, veggies, whole grains and lean proteins. Go easy on the sugary snacks and caffeine as they can leave you feeling tired later on. Instead, think of them as occasional treats you can enjoy when you’ve achieved something you’re proud of. Stay hydrated

Staying hydrated is crucial for maintaining energy levels and mental clarity throughout the day. Even mild dehydration can have a noticeable impact on how well you perform when studying or doing assignments as it can easily result in feelings of fatigue and difficulty concentrating. To prevent dehydration, aim for at least 8 - 10 glasses of water daily, and consider keeping a water bottle handy.

Make time for exercise

Exercising may be the last thing on your mind amidst the busyness. However it is worth remembering that physical activity enhances your thinking, learning and judgement skills as well as reduces anxiety symptoms. Incorporating exercise into your routine even if it is a 20-minute walk or a quick yoga session can help you feel more alert and focused so try not to skip it.
