NTU x White Rose collaboration offers you free professional clothing

Published: 21/03/2024

If you need new clothes for interviews, assessment centres, or even for a job you already have, come along to our Professional Student Wardrobe.

The Professional Student Wardrobe, based in Newton building level 1 and in collaboration with recycled fashion store White Rose, is available to all students and graduates. You can take up to two items for free – no catch or cost – all we ask is a few questions. And you can take additional items simply by taking part in our Swap Shop – bring an item of clothing you wish to donate and swap it for a new item from the Wardrobe (max three new items).

This is a great way to get new professional-looking clothes without having to worry about the cost. You can come along to the Wardrobe to get clothes for interviews, assessment centres, a job you already have, or anything else work-related.

Our fashion advisers are also there to offer their guidance if you’re unsure what you’re looking for or want some advice on putting together an outfit. They can also refer you on to additional support with your application or interview preparation.

Go inside the Wardrobe and hear student reviews of it in this video:

We set up the Professional Student Wardrobe in response to student feedback on the spiralling costs of professional workwear and the difficulties in accessing it. Wearing pre-loved clothes is also more environmentally sustainable and a great alternative to fast fashion.

Got something to donate?

To support the Professional Student Wardrobe and White Rose, we’re looking for donations of pre-loved clothes, shoes, bags, jewellery and accessories. White Rose collect and sort through all donations, with items provided for the Professional Wardrobe as well as being distributed to their network of shops.

You will find donation boxes in the reception areas of most buildings around City, Clifton and Brackenhurst campuses, including: Newton building, the Pavilion and the Bramley building.

Brackenhurst and Architecture, Design and Built Environment students – we need your help

To support students with more practical workwear needs, we’re also looking for donations of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats and fluorescent jackets. Please donate any unwanted items you have by putting them into one of the donation boxes.
