Don’t miss out – make sure you register to vote in the Mayoral elections

Published: 11/04/2024

Thursday 2 May 2024 is the date of the upcoming East Midlands Mayoral elections.

As a student living in Nottingham or Nottinghamshire, you are classed as a resident and may be eligible to vote in these elections. Make sure you've registered to vote before Tuesday 16 April 2024 for the chance to have your say.

The vote to elect an East Midlands Mayor is part of a deal to transfer powers from the Government to a local level worth £1.14 billion of funding, known as devolution.

We’ve put together a short overview of what devolution is, what it means for the East Midlands and why we’re voting for a Mayor.

Mayoral candidate Q&A

Together with Nottinghamshire Live and Notts TV, we’re also hosting a Q&A session at Confetti X on Friday 19 April 2024, with all the candidates who are standing for the position of Mayor.

You can view this Q&A live-streamed on our NTU Facebook page on the day, where questions will be put to all the candidates so you can find out more about the issues that affect you most before deciding who to vote for.
