Ready for summer?

Published: 22/05/2024

We hope you’re excited for the summer break but remember, we’re still here if you need us.

Summer opening hours

Our libraries will be open over the summer with reduced hours. Check the library website for updated opening hours.

Final year students – don’t forget to return your library loans and pay any fines by Friday 24 May. You must also clear any outstanding debts to the University by Friday 24 May or your graduation ceremony may be delayed.

Our Global Lounges will be open and running events over the break, so make sure you check StudentHub for their summer opening times.

NTU Sport facilities will also be open over the summer with reduced hours, and you can visit the website for the most up to date information.

Looking for some entertainment in Nottingham over the summer? Follow NTU Arts on Instagram and sign up to their VIP mailing list to hear about all of their upcoming events and activities, and check the calendar at Metronome, which has plenty of gigs, comedy and events to offer. You can also find out more about events happening in the city, and across the county, on the Visit Nottinghamshire website.

Employability support

Our helpful Employability team is here for any last-minute advice and support. You can drop in to see them between 10 am and 2 pm on City and Clifton campuses, or just pop a question in the Live Chat and an adviser will answer your query.

Employability support is also available online over the summer. Remember, if you’re a final year student you have access for a full three years after you complete your studies!

Your student finance deadline is soon

If you’re returning in September, don’t miss out on your student finance – the deadline to apply is Friday 21 June.

Applications for undergraduate full-time funding for 2024/25 are now open. It's important to apply as soon as you can so you don’t miss any important deadlines and to make sure you get your money in time for starting your course. Apply for your student finance online.

Summer celebrations

Celebrate in style with Nottingham Trent Students' Union's Last Day of Term (LDOT) – Summer Festival. There’s a lively line-up to help you say goodbye to uni friends and see out the academic year.

If you are having your own celebrations and enjoying the warmer weather, please remember to be considerate to your neighbours, clean up after yourself and don’t have campfires or BBQs in woodland areas.

Leaving your term time address?

If so, don’t forget to shut and lock all your windows and doors before you go. If you’re living in the community, please make sure your bin is emptied before you leave and don’t leave it out on the street.

If you’re looking for accommodation for 2024/25, bookings are now open – and you could get a £250 Amazon voucher with select bookings for September 2024 – exclusively for UPP Halls at NTU! Find out more on StudentHub.

Having a clear out before you leave?

If you find any food in your cupboards that won't last until you return, please consider donating it to local foodbanks in your area.

To support the NTU Professional Student Wardrobe and White Rose, we’re looking for donations of pre-loved clothes, shoes, bags, jewellery and accessories. You'll find donation boxes in the reception areas of most campus buildings including Newton building (City), the Pavilion (Clifton), and the Bramley building (Brackenhurst).

Brackenhurst and Architecture, Design and Built Environment students – we need your help. To support students with more practical workwear needs, we’re also looking for donations of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats and fluorescent jackets. Please donate any unwanted items you have by putting them into one of the donation boxes.

Further support

If you need student advice, help and services during the break you can find lots of information and support on StudentHub.

Enjoy your break – you've earned it!
