NTU signs the Disabled Student Commitment

Published: 03/12/2024

We’re really pleased to share that we have signed the Disabled Students Commitment, reflecting our focus on ensuring all students have an accessible and supportive experience at NTU.

Created following consultation with students and colleagues from across the higher education (HE) sector, the Disabled Student Commitment encourages universities to consider the entire journey of disabled students and the steps they can take to improve their experience.

The commitment is designed to be a self-regulatory tool and recognises that some actions may take time to embed. NTU currently meets 24 of 34 recommendations, and we’ll be focusing on how we can develop our inclusive practice going forward.

Hear from NTSU Exec and alumni Olivia Brooks on how the Disability Support Services helped during her time studying at NTU:

If you do need additional support, please don’t worry – you aren’t alone! One in four of our students has disclosed a disability or long term medical condition. There’s lots of resources and support available, that can be tailored to your needs.

We have a whole host of activities to mark Disability History Month this December, see how you can get involved.
