Become a NTU Global Summer School student buddy
Published: 20/02/2025
Are you staying in Nottingham this summer? Sign up to become a student buddy and meet students from around the world.

We're seeking students who are passionate about NTU and who will be in Nottingham this July to join us as Global Summer School (GSS) student buddies. You will join our international summer school students in class, engage with them in social sessions, and accompany them on activities and trips.
Key dates
GSS runs from Saturday 5 July - Friday 1 August and is made up of two blocks of short courses offered by NTU:
- Block One courses: 5 or 6 July - 18 July
- Block Two courses: 19 or 20 July - 1 August
International students can join us for two weeks (taking a course from Block One or Block Two) or four weeks (taking a course from each block).
About the role
As a student buddy, you will:
- Prepare and welcome international students to NTU and the UK, both via our pre-departure Teams meeting and in person.
- Support the Global Lounge team with events organisation and engage with students at our welcome events.
- Support our after-class activities such as bowling, an evening social at the Pitcher and Piano, and a party in the Level.
- Join our weekend activities, including visits to Oxford and York.
Why should I apply
The activities are free of charge to our buddies. In return for your help, you will get to take one or two of our GSS courses for free (worth £1200). You will also receive up to £100 in subsistence to take students out and about in Nottingham.
Your contribution counts towards the Global Employability Award and you can also record the experience on your HEAR Diploma Supplement as an additional activity (not applicable for final year students).
I made lots of friends, explored Nottingham with them, had the opportunity to take the course with students, and improved my personal skills. It was the best two weeks I can ever imagine!
