New sensory rooms now open in the library

Published: 30/04/2025

We’re excited to introduce our brand new Glow Sensory Rooms at the Clifton and Brackenhurst libraries.

The Library Sensory Glow Room

These rooms offer a calm and inclusive environment to support focus, relaxation and sensory regulation. They have been designed with neurodivergent students in mind but are open to anyone who would benefit from a peaceful retreat from the hustle of campus life. Soothing lighting, comfortable seating and a range of sensory tools are all used to help you regulate.

Following a competition to name the room, Glow Sensory Room was chosen by student Izzy Wileman. Thank you to everyone who entered, we had lots of fantastic suggestions.

Room locations:

  • Clifton Library – First floor
  • Brackenhurst Library – Room 001, towards the back of the library

Opening hours:

These rooms are open during regular library hours and no booking is required.

Tours of the rooms:

To help you familiarise yourself with the rooms, tours will be running Monday - Friday at 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm and 6 pm. Quiet tours at 9 am are also available. Students can book by emailing libinfodiret@ntu.ac.uk or by visiting the Information Desk at the Clifton and Brackenhurst libraries.

The Library is delighted to make this exciting step towards more inclusive library spaces. We’re committed to meeting the diverse needs of our students and supporting them to thrive.
