Feeling unsafe on a night out? Mobile Safe Spaces now available

Published: 23/02/2023

We want you to feel as safe as possible when you’re out and about in the city at night.

In addition to the NTU Safe Spaces we offer on our campuses, the City Council is providing a mobile ‘Safe Space’ to ensure women can feel safe on a night out in Nottingham.

During the evenings you will now see a Nottingham City Council Community Protection van parked regularly on Derby Road. The van will be Safe Space branded to make it clearly identifiable and will be staffed by uniformed community protection officers.

Two fire engines will also have the same Safe Space artwork on their vehicles and firefighters are often in the city centre at night and always on hand to help.

Always remember that if you feel threatened or anxious, please don’t hesitate to use these mobile Safe Spaces.

If you need to report an emergency, call Nottinghamshire Police on 999, or if it’s not an emergency dial 101. If you’re on campus you can always call our Security teams 24 hours a day.
