Love is in the air for our falcon pair

NTU’s resident pair of peregrine falcons have returned to their home on the ninth floor of the Newton building ahead of the breeding season.

Breeding season runs from March to September and NTU works in partnership with the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust to monitor the pair and their chicks. You can watch all the action and follow their journey live via 'falcon cam'.
Peregrine falcons have bred on top of their Newton home for the last 20 years and during this time 42 chicks have been born.

The recent increase in activity from the falcons also coincides with National Nestbox Week, which runs from 14-21 February.
The week puts the spotlight on breeding birds and encourages everyone to put up more nestboxes in their local area. February is a good time to think about installing nests as it's when many birds seek out mates, re-establish pairings or set up breeding territories.
