First 'Changing Places' toilet facility at Clifton Campus
Published: 10/05/2023
A fully accessible 'Changing Places' facility has opened in the Mary Ann Evans building at our Clifton Campus.

These facilities offer more space and advanced support than a standard accessible toilet. They are used by people with complex support needs who require high specification equipment and additional support to use bathroom facilities. Some of the features include an adjustable changing bench, ceiling hoist, a centrally located toilet with standing space on both sides and a non-slip floor.
It is estimated more than 250,000 people in the UK need access to this type of facility to enable them to fully participate in day-to-day activities with confidence and freedom.
There are several other Changing Places in Nottingham, including at Rushcliffe Country Park, Wollaton Hall and Park, Royal Concert Hall/Theatre Royal and Ikea.
To create a university experience accessible for all, we are currently looking at options to create more of these amazing facilities across the rest of our campuses.
How to access
To access the facility, students will need to contact disability.support@ntu.ac.uk to discuss their support needs, including accessibility and equipment.
NTU Disability Officers can also offer advice to students on reasonable adjustments to support their studies, accessing height adjustable desks on campus and applying for specialist ergonomic equipment through Disabled Students Allowances (DSA). The library also offers a variety of accessibility aids such as chair supports, whale mice and assistive software.
