Converse, BMW and NFL UK - find out what happened when NTU students did placements at these top global companies

Published: 19/02/2025

We’re proud to share the success stories of Tio, Vatsal and Paris, who landed incredible placements and got invaluable hands-on experience with these exciting brands.

Here are some photos from their time at their placements, and you can read their full stories below.

Vatsal Dalpat, BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance

Vatsal completed a transformative placement at BMW Financial Services.

During his placement, Vatsal was responsible for bank reconciliations, managing balance sheet accounts and contributing to financial accounting projects at BMW, gaining valuable hands-on experience within a global financial operation.

A standout moment for Vatsal was an exclusive visit to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, where he witnessed the meticulous craftsmanship behind each vehicle—an experience that deepened his understanding of quality and client service.

With the support of NTU Employability Services, including mock interviews and psychometric test practice, Vatsal built the confidence and skills needed to secure this highly competitive placement.

Vatsal’s BA Accounting & Finance course provided him with the technical knowledge and Excel skills necessary to thrive in his role at BMW, bridging the gap between academic theory and practical application.

One of the most valuable strategies I embraced was to persist and actively seek feedback after each application or interview, using any insights to refine my approach. This continuous improvement process helped me become more resilient and better prepared for each opportunity.

My placement at BMW Financial Services has been instrumental in preparing me for my future career in finance, by allowing me to develop essential technical skills that are crucial in this profession.

Tio Adebajo, BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing & Branding

Tio completed a dynamic placement at Converse within the Western Europe Communications Team.

During her placement, Tio was responsible for cultivating media coverage across the London and Paris markets, working on everything from media relations and copywriting to pitching stories and creating engaging content. No two days were the same—one day, she was hosting events during London Fashion Week, and the next, planning a media trip to Afro Nation in Portugal.

With support from NTU Employability, including CV guidance, Tio was able to confidently navigate the competitive application process and secure this amazing opportunity.

Tio’s Fashion Marketing & Branding course provided knowledge about the fashion landscape, as well as an opportunity to be exposed to a range of different skills needed in the industry.

Research and find connections in the brand/industry you want. The best advice you could get is from someone in the role or company you're looking to get a placement in, so use resources like LinkedIn, or your lecturer's network, and ask people in the company for advice and insight into who an ideal candidate would be.

I feel extremely well equipped to finish my degree and enter the world of work, not only because of the incredible wealth of connections I made within Converse and the wider fashion industry, but I also have such a better understanding of what jobs are even out there.

Paris Uwotu, BA (Hons) Marketing student

Paris Uwotu, recently interned at NFL UK. As a Marketing Intern, Paris supported the team with campaign planning, event organisation, and influencer activities, including creating newsletters for over two million fans, plus an NFL TikTok playlist!

A major highlight of her time was coordinating photoshoots with Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars players for the 2023 NFL London Games and providing NFL insights at Paramount Studios during the Nickelodeon Slimetime UK Super Bowl Special.

When we asked Paris what helped her during her journey, she shared that her course equipped her with essential marketing knowledge and practical skills like presentation skills and audience engagement, which she applied directly to her role. Group projects also prepared her to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

My top tip is to keep going when applying for jobs, even if you face many rejections—rejection is redirection. Tailor your application to showcase your passion and relevant skills while staying authentic.

NTU Employability supported me by providing workshops and CV reviews, which helped me prepare and stand out during the application process.
