Archie and P9 have welcomed two chicks

The first little one made its grand entrance on Wednesday 30 April, with its sibling following closely behind on Thursday 1 May. These newcomers mark the 47th and 48th chicks to hatch at this nest site – what a legacy.

This season, Archie and P9 laid four eggs. The first arrived on Sunday 23 March, followed by the second on Tuesday 25 March, the third on Thursday 27 March, and the fourth on Sunday 30 March, a particularly fitting day as it was Mother’s Day.

Once the final egg was laid, the devoted parents took turns incubating their precious clutch. However, now that more than a week has passed since the first chick hatched, it seems likely that the remaining two eggs won’t be viable. But there’s good news – the two chicks are thriving! With all the attention and resources focused on them, they have an excellent chance of a successful season.
