NTU's Robin Hood Half Marathon runners raise £10,570 for the JvG Cancer Research Centre

On Sunday 27 September, a team of 35 fundraisers laced up their running shoes to take part in the Robin Hood Half Marathon and Mini Marathon, on behalf of NTU’s John van Geest Cancer Research Centre (JvGCRC).

The fundraising team, which included NTU staff, students and alumni, raised a fantastic £10,570 for the centre, and we want to extend our thanks to everyone involved.

One of this year’s runners Rukshana, who sadly lost her father to cancer, shared her motivation for taking on her fundraising challenge:

This run is for my beloved Dad. Going through my Dad’s cancer journey and eventually losing him was one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced. It’s also a huge part of what keeps me going with this challenge.

Rukshana raised an incredible £1,620 through her fundraising.

I’ve been completely overwhelmed by people’s generosity. Every donation, share and message of encouragement has meant so much to me. My advice to anyone considering fundraising next year would be to not be afraid to share why it matters to you, and let people be part of the journey with you.
