All of our car parks, including accessible parking spaces, can be found on our Brackenhurst Campus map.

Blue badge holders

There are plenty of accessible parking spaces available to blue badge holders.

Please contact the car parking team to request accessible parking access for all campuses to be added to your student card.

Electric vehicle (EV) charging

There are six EV charging bays at Brackenhurst Campus where you can charge your electric vehicle. Two of these are dedicated accessible parking spaces for blue-badge holders. All spaces are located in the Bramley car park.

How to use

  • You need to first download the Mer Connect UK app from Google Play or the App Store and either register with Mer or charge your vehicle as a guest user. Follow the steps on the app and the charging station to begin.
  • We recommend familiarising yourself with the instructions on Mer's website. For any issues, please call Mer directly on 02038842768 or email support.uk@mer.eco

Costs

The EV chargers cost 47p per kW including VAT to use (subject to change).

Users will still be required to pay their parking fee in addition to the charging fee – the two are separate.

Car share

NTU operates a car-sharing scheme especially for students. It's designed to help you reduce your daily travel costs and CO2 emissions at the same time.

It's totally free to use. It enables you to find others going your way, so you can share the journey. You can:

  • take turns driving
  • offer someone a lift in exchange for a contribution to the fuel costs
  • look for someone to give you a lift.

You can access your account online once you've registered. It makes searching as convenient as possible. You can choose to search for matches:

  • among NTU students, or
  • from the whole nationwide Liftshare database.

You don't have to do it every day. It's completely flexible. Once you've found others going your way, you decide among yourselves how often it suits you to share.

Discover for yourself just how much money you can save by car-sharing. Sign up and find a car-share companion or two.

By train

If you’re planning on coming by train, you can get timetable information from National Rail. The closest station to our Brackenhurst Campus is Lowdham. Lowdham Station is 5 miles from the Brackenhurst Campus, to complete your journey you would then need to catch the NCT Pathfinder 26 bus.

By bus

Nottingham City Transport (NCT) Pathfinder 26 bus service will take you to our Brackenhurst Campus. The journey lasts about 45 minutes, and an adult’s return ticket costs £6.20. The bus leaves every 30 minutes from King Street, just off the Old Market Square. If you’re unsure where to get off, ask the driver.

Visit the NCT website to access information on discounted travel options for students – and activate your NTU Student Card for a 15% monthly discount on bus travel.

By bike

The Ucycle student bike hire scheme is a great way for students to get around the University Campus. We have over 200 bikes available to hire for £49 a year, secure compounds for cycle parking at each campus, and support from the City Campus based workshop, where expert mechanics and advice is available.

Visit the Ucycle webpage for more. You'll find:

  • cycle maps of Nottingham
  • details of our shower and cycle compound facilities
  • information on our Doctor Bike sessions.

By foot

Walking or running is one of the best ways to stay healthy whilst travelling to campus. NTU has created a traffic free heart of campus at the three main campuses and works with the local authorities to continually improve public facilities. Information on local walks from campus, mostly in green spaces, can be found on the sustainability web pages, which can improve the health and wellbeing of students.
