Cycling facilities at NTU
We have the following cycle storage, lockers and showers available at NTU:
Students and staff using any of the cycle stores located on NTU property should make themselves aware of the usage policies below. We want people to be able to cycle freely across the whole NTU estate, while taking into consideration the safety of other people that may be using shared spaces.
Information about the Cycle Hub
Bike Hire
At the Cycle Hub we offer bikes to hire for NTU students and staff for £49, less than £1 a week! They are high quality hybrid bikes which are ideal for cycling around town. When you hire a bike, we also provide a free D-lock, free bike lights and a free winter maintenance session alongside maintenance advice throughout the year.
A £60 deposit is required for all hirers, which will be refunded when the bike is returned on time and in a satisfactory condition. See full terms and conditions here.
You can reserve and pay for your hire bike via NTU's Online Store. You will receive more details of collection via email.
Once you have paid for the hire bike online you can collect it from the Cycle Hub workshop behind the Student Union on city campus. If you're based at Clifton or Brackenhurst and you hire your bike during welcome week then we can bring your bike to your campus in the first few weeks of term.
You are responsible for the appropriate maintenance of your hire bike. You will lose some or all of your deposit if your bike is not returned in a suitable state. Help is at hand though, and you can always contact us or attend one of the free maintenance sessions that are advertised below.
All our hire bikes are provided with good quality D-locks as a part of the package. If you use it sensibly and make the most of our secure cycle parking, then your bike is unlikely to be stolen. If it is, then as long as your inform us of the theft promptly with a police incident number then you will only lose your deposit.
