This project is part-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF).

Please note: This session is delivered through the Branch out in STEM project, which is funded by the European Social Fund. Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is pleased to offer free (fully funded) places on this session to support employees of small and medium businesses that are based in Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire.

This taster session will introduce you to the key concepts of business intelligence, helping you to develop an understanding of what business intelligence is and how you can apply it to your business.

What you’ll study

Business intelligence is a crucial aspect of any organisation, helping to transform data and information into knowledge that can be used to develop successful business plans. If you work with data and want to enhance your understanding of business intelligence, our taster session is here to provide you with an introduction!

During these sessions, you will have the opportunity to try out various activities using different business intelligence tools such as Excel and Tableau. Our sessions will demonstrate how business intelligence technologies can support decision-making in a wide range of business sectors. We will also introduce you to the basics of statistics, Excel and Tableau for creating effective charts and dashboards. This taster session will focus on data visualisation, which is a crucial component of business intelligence.

Entry requirements

To be eligible to apply for a place on this course you must be employed by a small or medium business (under 250 employees) in Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire.

No previous qualifications or experience is needed to access this course.
