Talks at Nottingham Puppet Festival are back for 2021

The puppetry talks series is returning to Nottingham Puppet Festival for 2021.
As part of this year’s festival, we will be hosting two talks with up-and-coming local, as well as established, creators and makers. Inspired by puppetry, the creative’s narratives centre on contemporary issues such as disability, mental health, addiction, and gender identity. This year’s talks will cover a range of topics including facilitating participation, autobiographical stories, and the creative process.

Talk 1: Puppetry and Wellbeing
Wednesday 2 June, 5.30 pm
Two Professionals, Laura Guthrie and Dr Emma Fisher, will talk about Puppetry and Disability, followed by a Q&A session. The event will be livestreamed on YouTube.

Friday 4 June, 5.30 pm
Tune in for presentations and debate by local practitioners and an established designer-maker on contemporary narratives, including disability, mental health, and gender identity. Topics of discussion include Theatre as a tool for empowerment – creating a platform for ‘The Other’ and What happened to you: The puppet making process.
