Unleash your inner creative with free workshops, exhibitions, gigs and more from NTU Arts.

From improving mental health and wellbeing to learning new skills, creativity is proven to have all kinds of benefits. At NTU Arts, we have a whole programme of events and activities to help you broaden your creative horizons, featuring workshops, gallery tours, concerts and beyond – and many of them are free!

Stop motion animation workshops

Various dates and locations.

Learn the basic principles of stop motion and use props, Lego, cardboard and your imagination to tell short stories on your phone.

DJ skills workshop

Various dates, NTU Music Centre.

Fancy learning something new this year? Join DJ Joni Newham for a free DJ Skills workshop, open to all NTU students.

Musical theatre class

Various dates, NTU Music Centre.

Join professional dancer, actress and singer Sarah Rymond for a workshop combining singing, dancing and acting.

Drawing class with Hannah Sawtell

Various dates and locations.

Work with local illustrator Hannah Sawtell, who will guide you through different approaches to drawing, incorporating a range of mixed media. Suitable for all skill levels – materials are provided.

Evening writing workshop

Various dates, CELS Building, Clifton Campus.

Come along to our free Tuesday evening workshop and try your hand at writing – whether you're a complete beginner, secret scribbler or workshop regular.

Writer mentoring

Thursday 7 March, 6 pm, online via Teams.

Get a fresh perspective, and new ideas to improve your writing from an experienced writer. Free, online and open to all students.

Acrylic tile painting

Various dates and locations.

Join us at this free drop-in session and decorate your own tile to be added to our collaborative mural. Come along, grab a brush, and get painting!

Gallery visit: Saad Qureshi – Conversations Before the End of Time

Thursday 7 March, 2 pm, meet at Newton Reception.

Explore award-winning artist Saad Qureshi's new exhibition, Conversations Before the End of Time at Djanogly Gallery on the University of Nottingham campus.

WRAP Café

Tuesday 12 March, 6 pm at Blend Café, Nottingham Contemporary.

Calling all writers, poets, musicians, actors and creatives! Come along to WRAP Café for a chance to meet our creative community, listen to their work and maybe share your own.

Battle of the Bands

Tuesday 12 March, 7 pm at Metronome.

See bands from NTU and Confetti battle it out for some incredible prizes, in front of industry judges.

Heritage visit: Guided tour of Nottingham Cathedral

Wednesday 13 March, 1.30 pm, meet at Newton Reception.

Join us for a guided tour of Nottingham Cathedral, and discover more about its fascinating history.

Exhibition launch: Osheen Siva, Shahnawaz Hussain and Peepshow

Friday 15 March, 6 pm at Bonington Gallery.

Head to Bonington Gallery for the launch of three new exhibitions; Osheen Siva: Karappu, Shahnawaz Hussain: My Nottinghamshire Perspectives in Watercolour and Peepshow: An Illusion Cut to the Measure of Desire.

Enjoy a free welcome drink, food and music from our DJs in the Atrium.

Crafting with NTU Maker Club

Wednesday 20 March, 1 pm and 2 pm.

Join NTU's Maker Club for two free crafting sessions, and try your hand at weaving willow into Easter baskets.

Drawing for fun with Nonsuch Studios

Wednesday 20 March, 12 pm at Clifton Global Lounge.

Come along to a free drawing session with Nonsuch Studios' Caroline Rowland. Open to all abilities, invite your friends for a couple of hours of doodling fun!
