Chick joy for our falcons

Published: 07/05/2024

It was an early start to the Bank Holiday weekend as the first peregrine falcon chick of 2024 hatched on Saturday 4 May at 4.30 am.

In total, the falcons have laid four eggs this year. The first arrived on Tuesday 26 March, the second on Friday 29 March, the third on Sunday 31 March and the final egg on Wednesday 3 April.

Both parents, Archie and P9, have been taking turns incubating the chicks since the fourth egg was laid.

From hatching, the chicks fledge from the nest box between 38 and 44 days. With three more eggs still to hatch, keep checking the live stream over the next six weeks to follow the excitement!
