Unit(s) of assessment: Geography, Environmental Studies and Archaeology
School: School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences
Overview
This research profiles some of the ancient trees and lost woodlands of Big Moor, Derbyshire, and highlights research based upon the studies carried out by GHB Ward which appear in the Sheffield Clarion Ramblers handbooks. Ward wrote the handbooks from 1902 onwards, covering 9 rambles in each edition. His observations of this landscape can give much to modern research.
