Project

Reintegration of people with a criminal conviction

School: School of Social Sciences

Overview

This programme of research explores the challenges that people with a serious criminal conviction face integrating into society. The work includes a report by Professor Belinda Winder for Clinks Evidence library setting out 13 factors that impact on the reintegration of people with a sexual conviction, a briefing by the team on the importance of using person-centred language when describing people with a criminal conviction, and a novel framework developed by Scott as part of his doctoral studies. The framework 'penal fire and social warmth' delineates the structural and societal forces at play for individuals with a serious conviction.
