Role

Aikaterini is a Senior Lecturer and Module Leader for Fashion Communication and Promotion. She is involved in teaching across all levels and has contributed to the development of course modules and briefs.

Career overview

Aikaterini has a multidisciplinary career which encompasses a wide array of creative pursuits, including art direction, illustration, graphic design, brand consultancy and teaching.

She joined Nottingham Trend University in 2019, after working as a freelance creative and visual communication artist for various clients and briefs within the industry. Rooted in a desire to promote activism and collaboration, Aikaterini’s work often challenges societal norms and explores themes of social and cultural equality. This is important within her field of Fashion Communication and Promotion as societal, cultural, political, environmental, and technological issues all influence the future of the fashion industry in a multitude of ways.

Print and publishing have been a consistent creative outcome for her, as she has had the privilege to illustrate and publish books alongside Rapha, Tour de France, The Guilty feminist, Dizzy Ink, and multiple freelance creatives. Additionally, her self-published zine, launched in 2018, has reached readers across the world, with distribution and representation in the UK, USA, and Europe. Through her publication, Aikaterini has fostered a global community, regularly engaging in panel discussions, workshops, exhibitions, podcasts and other forms of outcome such as film, music and events.

Her self-initiated creative work and collaboration with industry continues to grow as she is constantly developing new ideas and relations.

Research areas

Immersive Technology: Aikaterini continuously explores and experiments with advanced technologies to enhance her processed of visual communication. Her current exploration involves the combination of Ai software, traditional printing methods and the Adobe Suite.

Creativity for a cause: Since 2016, Aikaterini has pursued a self-initialed area of research focused on using methods and theories of visual communication and promotion to effect impactful and positive change in the world. This commitment is reflected in her collaborative project, FCP In Conversation, which hosts weekly debating session to stimulate discussion and visual analysis on topics related to Fashion Communication and Promotion, bridging the gap between staff, industry clients and students.

Trend Forecasting: Aikaterini has expanded her knowledge, research, curiosity and insights into global consumers, macro trends, and brand innovation through her development of the Trend Forecasting module and research alongside the students. Her curiosity for future understanding and prediction spans across various sectors, Beauty, Health and Wellness, Lifestyle, Food and Drink, Youth culture, Technology, Travel and Hospitality, Pop-Culture and Media.
