Role

Claire Phipps is Course Leader for (Hons) Fashion Communication and Promotion within the School of Art and Design. The role includes; innovative curriculum development, delivering a course which balances student experience with the future needs of employers. She has been a member of the School Academic Standards and Quality Committee, and has verified a number of degree courses at international partner institutions. She also teaches across all three years of the course.

She drives partnerships with industry to ensure the relevance of course content, deliver work-like experiences for students and to bring in live projects. Over the years she has guided students through creative promotional campaigns across the fashion, beauty and lifestyle sectors working with brands such as Boots No.7, NYX, Elsie and Fred, Revolution Beauty, Size?, Love Saves the Day and Stance.

Claire has taught on the course for ten years, her subject specialisms include; Creative Process, Ideation, Photography & Film production, Print production, Creative Technology, Trend Forecasting, Personal Development and Professional Practice.

Career overview

Claire joined NTU in 2012. Before this she had several roles including product development, design and promotion in the fashion industry.

In her roles outside of fashion she would be best described as a multi-disciplinary collaborator, having worked on a vast variety of commercial projects including; graphics, automotive innovation, healthcare and fine art.
