Role

Emma Prince is the course leader for BA (Hons) Fashion design. Her academic responsibilities include teaching first year and final year students on the BA (Hons) Fashion design course and final year students on the top-up degree for our collaborative partner institution Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) in Hong Kong. She also supervises postgraduate students on the MA Fashion & Textiles course. Her role includes delivering lectures, tutorials, 2D & 3D design workshops and assessment. Emma is lead tutor for the Fashion Product route in final year and co-ordinator of the degree show Fashion Product exhibition.

Other responsibilities include; Lead admissions tutor; Interviewing prospective students, Fashion course open day talks, and course and curriculum development. Personal tutor for year one and FTK representative on the Graduate Fashion Week stand.

Career overview

Following her MA studies in Fashion and Textiles Emma spent 14 years working with a range of lingerie brands as senior designer and design manager with her focus on design and product development. She was involved in a number of specialised innovative technological processes such as moulding, laser cutting and sonic welding and the development of a range of material processes and trend prediction.

In addition to her teaching commitments Emma is currently developing a range of sustainable products using textile waste.
