Role

Kerry is the Course Leader for Design for Film and Television, overseeing the whole course and leading the first-year teaching. Kerry was the External Examiner for this course previously and is already familiar with the course and excited about working with the brilliant staff here on this excellent, well-established course.

Career overview

Kerry is a creative practitioner with over 30 years experience in Film and Television art departments working as an Art Director, Production Buyer and Set Decorator (Sid Gentle, UKTV/AMC, BBC, DNA Films, Warp films, CBBC, Steel Mill Films, Shed TV and Channel 4), as well as a Set & Costume designer for Theatre, Festivals and Exhibitions.

She has also lectured at the Northern Film School (Leeds Beckett), run set design courses at Wimbledon College of Arts for 14 years and lectured at Goldsmiths University, University of Gloucester, Central St. Martins, Lewisham College and St. Mary’s University, Twickenham.

External activity

Kerry has had many teaching roles in different universities and film schools previously, as well as being a freelance designer and buyer in Film, Television and Theatre. In the last year, Kerry has worked as Production Buyer and Set Dresser on the TV series ‘Ragdoll’ (Sid Gentle Film- the makers of ‘Killing Eve’), designed a short, interactive film tackling climate change ‘Before We Disappear’, which was filmed in Nottingham with the help of some very capable Nottingham Trent University students and designed set and costume for the musical - ‘One Kiss’ at Coventry Belgrade Theatre.

Kerry is currently designing and curating an exhibition for the Society of British Theatre Designers that will take place in Margate in March 2023, as well as aspects going to the Prague Quadrennial in June 2023.
