Role

Marion is a Senior Lecturer in Fashion Marketing and Branding and fellow of the HEA. As the Year Lead for Level 6, her role goes beyond the classroom, focusing on fostering a vibrant community, tracking attendance and engagement, and providing pastoral care.

Marion’s teaching is centred around the belief that education goes beyond textbooks. It is about building a supportive community where students thrive academically and personally.

Marion is the joint module leader for Project Me, the final year employability module. Through this module the students create their own personal reflective digital portfolios, which empowers them to showcase their unique skills and perspectives to potential employers and the broader industry.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, Marion is a member of the School Academic Quality Standards Committee. The committee is responsible for ensuring parity and fairness across the school's systems and procedures. This commitment reflects her dedication to maintaining the highest standards of education and promoting an environment of equality and excellence.

Career overview

Prior to working in education, Marion worked in the fast-moving consumer goods industry and spent 16 years at Mars Inc. working across various brand and customer-facing roles and contributed to the success of globally recognised brands such as Mars, Snickers, Galaxy, and M&Ms.

During her corporate career, Marion managed diverse teams, empowering individuals to reach their full potential.

During Marion’s professional career she worked in several international markets from Europe to the Middle East allowing her to appreciate and navigate the nuances of the global business landscape.

Marions extensive industry background enables her to bring a unique perspective to the classroom, bridging the gap between theory and real-world application.

Research areas

Marion’s research revolves around cultivating a profound sense of belonging and community within educational settings. Rooted in a pedagogy of care, she explores innovative approaches and creating meaningful, real-life-based teaching activities that foster collaborative learning. Through this research, Marion strives to enhance academic engagement and to contribute to the holistic development of students, by creating a culture where kindness and collaboration are integral to their educational journey.
