Nottingham School of Art & Design

Role

Rob Coles is a lecturer on the Music Business BA. He delivers four modules across all three years of the degree course – The Music Business (Year 1); Applied Marketing & PR, and Music Law (Year 2); and Your Major Project (Year 3). As well as delivering modules, he also designed and authored the content for the second and third year modules.

Career overview

Rob Coles is an experienced practitioner within the music industry, having worked as a songwriter and performer with his band Little Comets. They have worked alongside major and independent labels (Columbia & Dirty Hit), been signed to a major publisher (Concord), toured the UK & world extensively, had ad placements with global brands (Radox, HP), music played on radio stations globally and self-release a top 40 UK album on their own label. He uses this extensive experience to contextualise and create course content, allowing students to appreciate how the practical application of knowledge in a real-life environment works.
