Role

Prior to becoming Associate Dean, Melanie was Head of Undergraduate Programmes at Nottingham Business School where she had strategic responsibility for the School's Undergraduate Programmes and architected the School's plan for the design, development and delivery of the programme portfolio. Melanie is passionate about innovative curriculum design and working with students, employers and various external bodies to ensure collective involvement in the portfolio design.

Melanie is a member of the EFMD Undergraduate Steering Committee and has co-ordinated and Chaired a number of their Undergraduate Conferences and has experience in Chairing and participating in validation and accreditation activities nationally and internationally. More recent developments include developing the personalisation project work at Nottingham Business School which is key to enriching the student experience across all the suites of programmes at the School.

Prior to joining Nottingham Business School Melanie was a Director in a new business venture.

Research areas

She has a particular interest in innovative curriculum design and works with students, employers and various external bodies to ensure collective involvement in the portfolio design. She has been at the forefront of leading programme designs that blend business acumen with practice and ensuring that the UG portfolio at NBS has opportunities for student learning both within the University and Business. Melanie has delivered papers at national and international conferences on this work and research.

She has also held a number of External Examiner and External Reviewer roles both nationally and internationally. She has a wealth of experience in validation and quality assurance processes and has Chaired and been a panel member on a number of national and international events.
