Role

Peter is a Lecturer in Personal and Academic Development at Nottingham Trent University. With a background in Entrepreneurship and innovation, He teaches entrepreneurship modules including Enterprise in practice, Digital Entrepreneurship and Competitive strategy and Innovation. He is currently the module leader for applied professional development on the Business Management and Entrepreneurship Course and plays a crucial role in shaping up the module to achieve desired learning outcomes. He is also the Assistant Course leader for Level 4 students on the Joint Honours in Business Management and Entrepreneurship.

As an assistant Course Leader, Peter is an integral member of the Course team and works closely with the Course leader Karen slater and other key members of the team to oversee all matters relating to the Course and to also plan and execute relevant programs to enhance the experience of students on the Course.

Peter is also currently involved in Building the Black Heritage Community in the Nottingham Business school and works closely with Head of Undergraduate studies (Rachel Welton) and the Course Leader for Business Management and HR (Tolulope Fadipe) on that. He has so far curated a Black Heritage event with support from the team. The event which was held in October 2023 involved exhibition of Kente products made in Ghana, a lecture on the history of Kente weaving in Ghana and tasting of Ghanaian and Nigerian Jollof. He is also a member of the Sustainability Committee of the Management department which is in charge of planning and executing actions to promote sustainability in the Nottingham business school and beyond.

Career overview

Peter has 9 years’ Experience running a fashion Social Enterprise called Kente Master which he started in Ghana and grew to become International selling products to customers from at least 16 countries with the US being the major market.

He has participated in a number of business incubator and accelerator programs including the Kumasi Business Incubator sponsored by the World Bank, the Challenges worldwide program sponsored by DFID, the Ghana-Netherlands business academy program, the McDan Entrepreneurship Challenge($5000 grant won) and the Scale Accelerator program organized by the Haydn Green Institute of the University of Nottingham (£3000 grant won).

He has also taken part in relevant leadership programs such as the Young African Leadership Initiative sponsored by the US embassy after which he went on to win a grant of $10,000 with two other colleagues from Burkina Faso to run a project on Transparency and Ethics in Ghana and Burkina Faso.

After his Masters in Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Management from the University of Nottingham, Peter went on to teach Entrepreneurship and Business development at Nottingham Trent International College before joining Nottingham Trent University as a full time Lecturer.
