Role
David Boulton is a Senior Quality Officer within the apprenticeships team in the Centre for Academic and Development and Quality (CADQ). His role it to ensure the quality of education within the apprenticeships’ provision. As such he works with all course teams and workplace/academic mentors to look at the experience the apprentices gain within this area. The role is a wide one and encompasses some aspects of PebblePad as well as how it supports the pedagogy taught in the classrooms. Along with the rest of his team he is responsible for developing and training staff which will lead to an improved educational experience for our apprentices.
He is also responsible for any apprenticeship sub-contracting provision and manages the compliance and quality aspects of those.
David is passionate about apprenticeships and ensuring that learning is a seamless process during on and off the job activities.
Career overview
David began his teaching career in 1986, holds a BEd and Certificate in Education and has worked in both private training companies and large further education colleges. He has extensive experience of quality within education working as a Learning consultant at West Nottinghamshire College since 2002. He has worked with work based learning providers since the early 1990’s and has been heavily involved in apprenticeship quality for 20 years. He has managed private apprenticeship provision and supported sub-contracting training providers to improve the quality of their apprenticeship provision when they provided apprenticeship training on behalf of West Nottinghamshire College.
David is very experienced with e-portfolios and has led the development of and staff training for two large e-portfolio solutions. He has always been passionate about the use of technology within education and has used that experience well to enhance the features of the e-portfolios’ he has been involved with.
