Role
Helen is a Senior Educational Developer within the Education, Quality, and Partnerships (EQP) Directorate. She works collaboratively with colleagues across the university on activities that support the development and enhancement of learning and teaching. She has a particular focus on exploring inclusivity and accessibility in the curriculum to meet all students' needs, delivering workshops on writing inclusive learning outcomes, designing integrated, inclusive and intentional curriculum and assessment design for inclusive curriculum.
She is also the project lead for the EQP Micro-credentials staff development initiative, which is currently delivering and developing a series of micro-credential modules for staff who teach or support learning in NTU.
Career overview
Helen began her career in further education in 2003 before moving into higher education in 2009. Since then, she has held a range of academic and leadership roles, including Course Leader, Module Leader, Collaborative Partnerships Manager and Manager of the University of Derby's English Language Centre. In these positions, her work has consistently focused on enhancing learning and teaching, supporting staff development and improving student experience.
As a Course and Module Leader, she was responsible for developing engaging and effective learning experiences, leading curriculum enhancement initiatives and ensuring courses were designed to maximise student achievement and success. In all her roles, she has worked closely with colleagues across a variety of educational contexts to promote the delivery of high-quality learning opportunities.
As a Senior Educational Developer at NTU, Helen has shown her passion for helping colleagues develop their teaching practice and creating learning environments that enable students to thrive. She works with academic and professional services staff across disciplines and departments to enhance curriculum design, develop effective teaching approaches and implement practices that support student engagement, achievement and retention.

Helen has held several External Examining roles and is currently the EE for 2 UK universities.
Helen has presented at various UK educational conferences including at RAISE, Advance HE Annual Learning and Teaching Conference and SEDA (Staff & Educational Development Association).
