Role

Alwyn Jones is a Lecturer at the Nottingham Law School. He specialises in teaching the criminal law and ethics elements of the post graduate Barristers’ Training Course and Legal Practice Course.

Alwyn is also the course leader for the SRA Higher Rights of Audience Course (Criminal).

He is the BTC Module Leader for professional ethics.

Career overview

Alwyn qualified as a solicitor in 1984 and has specialised in criminal law since that time.

He became one of the first solicitors to be granted the Higher Rights of Audience in 1995 and from that time appeared full time in the Crown Court and Court of Appeal, prosecuting and defending serious criminal cases including sexual offences, serious drug conspiracies, fraud and serious violent offences up to and including murder trials.

Alwyn was a Partner at a national law firm for several years and was later Head of Chambers.

In 2016, Alwyn was appointed a Lead Facilitator for the provision of training to Barristers and Solicitors in relation to the questioning of Vulnerable Witnesses in court proceedings.
