Role

Bethany Brown is a Senior Lecturer at the Nottingham Law School.

Bethany is a qualified solicitor who worked as a family and child protection solicitor prior to moving into education in 2021.

She is currently one of the deputy course leaders on the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and the Solicitors Qualifying Examination 1 and 2 Preparation Courses (SQE1/SQE2). She is particularly active in the course leadership of the SQE 2 Preparation Course as assessment and disability officer.

Bethany is the module leader of the Family Law modules on the LPC and SQE. She also is module leader for SQE 2 Interviewing, LPC Writing and co-module leader for LLB Family. She also teaches the LPC and SQE1 Property modules.

Historically Bethany has acted as the Cert Student Mentor Student Lead for undergraduate first year students. In addition, Bethany also has experience supervising and teaching on the Master course (LLM), her classes focused on the capacity of children to make medical decision.

Career overview

Bethany was a LLB Law with Criminology student at Nottingham Trent University before she transitioned onto the LLB Law course. Thereafter she studied her Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School.

Bethany qualified as a solicitor in 2019 after completing her training contract. She worked as a family and child protection solicitor until June 2021 when she joined Nottingham Law School. Since working at NTU Bethany has furthered her teaching expertise by obtaining Fellowship of Advance HE and successfully obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.

External activity

Bethany is an External Examiner for the LLM Law in the Faculty of Management Law and Social Studies at the University of Bradford.

Bethany is a part of The Law Society of England and Wales.
