Role
Helen Breese is an experienced communications professional with more than 20 years working in public relations, including media training, and crisis management.
She supports academics within Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Law School and the School of Sciences to promote their research and expertise through external engagement.
This involves finding and promoting compelling research stories, identifying relevant breaking news for comment, and matching journalist requests with the right expert at NTU.
Helen's wider research communications role supports the promotion of NTU's research excellence through creative content such as video and podcasts, alongside written features, explainers and blogs.
Helen’s responsibilities include:
- Promoting university research, initiatives and successes through the media
- Handling media enquiries
- Sourcing expert comment, including articles for The Conversation
- Supporting staff with media engagement
- Crisis PR
- Content for NTU's Research Reimagined campaign, including Reframe and Researchers Revealed
- Building a community on NTU News and NTU Research LinkedIn channels
Career overview
Before joining Nottingham Trent University, Helen worked for a number of public relations agencies with responsibility for a range of business, education and consumer clients.
External activity
Helen is a Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Accredited Practitioner and has a CIPR Specialist Diploma in Crisis Communications.
