Role

Fiona Smith works across the University’s portfolio of Strategic Partnerships to develop long-term, multi-stranded and mutually beneficial collaborations, primarily with business and professional service organisations, including Santander and Fujitsu.

Working with teams across NTU, Fiona is passionate about bringing to life partnerships that enhance teaching and research, find new ways to widen access to higher education and enhance the learning experience for our students.

Fiona works closely with senior leadership teams to develop current relationships and consider new partners that meet NTU’s civic engagement strategy and build our reputation and impact globally.

Fiona collaborates on a variety of thought leadership activities that facilitate the exchange of insights into industry trends and developments and showcases NTU’s expertise and services. Everything she does is with the aim of cultivating new thinking, embracing innovation, and enabling possibility.

Career overview

At NTU, Fiona has worked across all Schools developing relationships with industry to support academic colleagues with their research bids, and as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership manager.

Before joining NTU, Fiona worked in both small and large enterprises. Fiona started her career as a graduate trainee in product management for the retail arm of Boots, moving to brand management, website development and internal communications during her employment there.
