Role

Beverley is the Deputy Head of Biosciences, working with the Head of Department and wider members of the team on strategic and operational matters at Departmental, School and Institutional level. She plays a key leadership role with focus on teaching and learning within the department and is the Departmental Practice Group Theme Lead, working with colleagues in the delivery of practice-focussed teaching excellence.

Beverley is a Fellow member of the Institute of Biomedical Science, is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a Chartered Scientist. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Career overview

Prior to her most recent role of Deputy Head of the Department, Beverley has also been Acting Head of Department. She has extensive experience as Principal Lecturer, Subject Leader and Courses Manager in Biomedical Science and before this time was Senior Lecturer and Clinical Tutor in Biomedical Science. Beverley entered academia after ten years working within the NHS, working as a Senior Biomedical Scientist and Team Leader in Clinical Haematology and Transfusion Practice at Nottingham University Hospitals and prior to this at the Royal Derby Hospitals and as a Biomedical Scientist.

External activity

Beverley is an active Fellow Member of the Institute of Biomedical Science. She is an Academic Panel Lead for degree accreditations held by the IBMS and is an External Verifier and Assessor for IBMS professional qualifications.

Other external activities include several External Examiner roles, including positions at the University of Ulster and University of Lincoln. Beverley is also an invited External Academic Panel Lead for course validations within the field of Biomedical Science at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
