Role
Ismahane Cheheb is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science.
She currently serves as Course Leader for both the MComp and BSc (Hons) Computer Science programmes. She also brings extensive technical expertise to her teaching, leading and contributing to modules in cloud computing, distributed systems, systems design, AI and machine learning.
Her research aligns with the Computational Intelligence and Applications (CIA) and Cyber Security Research Group (CSRG) groups.

Ismahane received a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Informatics and Masters degree in Software Engineering from the University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene (USTHB), Algiers, Algeria.
Ismahane earned a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, where she also held the position of Research Fellow in Digital Forensics between 2020 and 2022.
Research areas
Ismahane's research focuses on leveraging intelligent computational techniques to address real-world challenges in digital forensics, biometrics, computer vision, and data analytics, with applications in security, health, wellbeing, and education.
Enquiries are welcome from self-funded PhD students interested in these areas.
Ismahane is open to collaboration in research and innovation projects with partners from industry and academia, both nationally and internationally.
