Role
Chloe Barber is a Senior Lecturer on the BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS course and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). She teaches across all 4 year groups, delivering modules in Early Years Pedagogy, Educational and Professional Development, Inclusion, and Leadership and Management. Chloe also supervises final-year Independent Studies dissertations and serves as Placement Lead for Year 2 trainees on the BA programme.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Chloe undertakes a range of leadership roles within the programme, including Module Lead and Strand Lead for key curriculum areas. She is also a Lead Mentor for trainees on both the BA (Hons) Primary Education and PGCE programmes. As a member of the Executive Lead Mentor (ELM) team, Chloe contributes to the development of school-based mentoring through the design and delivery of mentor training, alongside providing ongoing professional support and guidance. Furthermore, she is an active member of Nottingham Trent University's interview panel, contributing to the recruitment and selection of prospective teacher trainees.
Career overview
Prior to joining Nottingham Trent University in 2023, Chloe spent 20 years teaching in Early Years and primary education across both mainstream primary schools and specialist nursery settings. During her school-based career, she held a range of senior leadership positions, including Curriculum Lead, EYFS and Key Stage 1 Phase Lead, SENDCo, and Reading Lead. She also led continuing professional development (CPD) initiatives in Early Years Foundation Stage practice, phonics, reading, safeguarding, coaching and mentoring, and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), supporting colleagues within her own school and across academy trust partnerships.
